Dye and Metabolite Reference Materials

Dyes are widely used in a variety of industries, and synthetic colours are popular in food production due to factors such as their low cost, resistance to light, and colour stability.

In food, feed and beverage testing, colours can fall under a number of main regulatory categories: permitted additive, permitted but under scrutiny/deemed desirable to avoid by some groups (such as the ‘Southampton six’), and banned/not permitted.

Banned/not permitted items can be planned ingredients that become non-compliant if exported to another country if added fraudulently to enhance natural colours (such as Sudan dyes in spices), or residues and metabolites of permitted veterinary treatments that remain in animal products.

We offer a broad range of dye and metabolite reference materials, including many ISO/IEC 17034 and 17025-accredited products. Our portfolio also features isotopically labelled dyes such as Sudan I-d5, and mixtures of azo dyes or benzidines, as well as permitted and banned dyes.
