Ethanol and Related Reference Materials

Ethanol and its related materials - such as biochemical markers and congeners - are assessed for in toxicological analysis, with the aim of ascertaining intoxication levels, and understanding the role they may have played in accidents, crimes, or health emergencies. They are also used to monitor alcohol abstinence in situations where drinking is prohibited - for example, in clinical alcohol treatment programmes, liver transplant clinics, and in workplace testing.

Analysis typically assesses for ethanol and associated metabolites, biomarkers such as ethyl glucuronide (EtG), or congeners such as methanol, isopropanol and acetaldehyde, which add to alcoholic beverages’ flavours and aromas.

We invite you to browse our range of neat, single and multicomponent ethanol related reference materials - including ethanol and alcohol congener matrix materials - below.
